When you're on the go, and you have a lot of work to get done, having Office on your mobile devices can be handy. For example, you can copy a chart from an Excel workbook and paste it into a Word document using your tablet or smartphone. The following procedure describes how to perform this task on an Android tablet. However, you can use another device as well. See Specific "how to" instructions for your device.

To copy a chart from Excel and paste it into Word using an Android tablet

Begin with a Word document open for editing. If you want to use our example document, you can download it here: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=723570, and then open it for editing in Word on your device.

In your Word document, go to the location where you want to include a chart.

Go to Excel on your tablet, and select the worksheet that contains the chart you want to use.

Tap the chart, and on the context menu that appears, choose Copy.

Return to your document open in Word.

Tap where you want to put the chart, and on the context menu that appears, choose Paste.

Windows PC or tablet

Office Online (browser on all devices)
Currently, you cannot copy a chart from an Excel workbook and paste it into a Word document using Word Online. To perform this task, use a device, such as a computer, tablet, or smartphone that has Office installed on it. For more information, see Copy and paste in Office Online
